Books and Family Resources
A parent's breast cancer diagnosis affects the children in the family, too. Pink Warriors supports children through books, community events, and mental health resources centered on the book, coping with emotions, and understanding fear and anxiety.
This page brings together our book and writing so families, social workers, hospitals, libraries, and community organizations can find a starting point. The writing shares personal experience and general educational information; it is not individual medical or mental health care.
Ring the Bell!
Ring the Bell! is a children's book by Julia Penan, illustrated by Lisa Cummings, for children whose parent is undergoing breast cancer treatment. It follows a child's experience of fear and uncertainty and the support of family, friends, and a therapist.
Books can reach families through social workers, hospitals, doctors' offices, and cancer charities. Families and organizations can contact Pink Warriors to discuss the book and its availability.

Ask About Books or Getting Involved
For a general inquiry, email pinkwarriorsny@gmail.com. Let us know whether you are asking as a family member or on behalf of an organization, and whether you want to discuss the book, family reading, or a community event. You do not need to describe anyone's diagnosis or treatment.
